Hello, and welcome back – for the fifth consecutive year, I will be fundraising on behalf of Tuesday’s Children and participating in the New York City Marathon. Tuesday’s Children means many things to me for many reasons, but this particular event is especially meaningful to me. It is an emotional time of year for me and for the charity, but the support from my friends and family each year enables my addiction (running) and facilitates the success of my most rewarding hobby (fundraising).

This year was an important one for TC, and while the charity embarked on several new initiatives and partnerships, it has never strayed far from its mission to serve all families and individuals directly impacted by the events of September 11th, 2001. TC has been there for me and my family since day one, and I’m grateful now to have the opportunity to give back. As a mentor, a fundraiser, co-chair of the charity’s Junior Board and now, a member of the Board of Directors, I’ve developed some of the most important personal relationships of my adult life thanks to TC; your donation dollars are in good hands, so don’t be shy.

Running the 26.2 miles to complete a marathon is never an easy task. For the first time, in last year’s fundraising campaign, I’m proud to say that we raised more than $1,000 for each mile – in other words, the total take home for the KP/TC Fundraising Gravy Train was more than $28,000 in 2013. In fact, in the last four years combined, we have raised more than $70,000 in this individual fundraising campaign alone. If we can just slightly exceed last year’s total, the five-year pull for the home team would amount to an even $100,000, and I could think of no better way to celebrate a five-year anniversary.
